(Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Researcher in Biomimetics)
Dr. Silvia Titotto is the principal investigator of the “4D Printing and Biomimetics” interdisciplinary research group. She is currently an Assistant Professor of the “Engineering, Modeling and Applied Social Sciences Center” and at the Post Graduate Program in “Engineering and Management of Innovation”, both at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC). She holds a PhD title from Politecnico di Torino (Italy) in the field of “Technological Innovation for the Built Environment” and a PhD title from University of São Paulo / USP (Brazil) in the field of “Architecture and Design”. Her research work is focused on Bioinspired Engineering, a field that seeks technological innovations inspired by solutions and strategies presented by biological structures and their functions and Reactive Additive Manufacturing, a process by which digital 3D design data is used to build up an articulated component in layers by depositing multimaterials that react to environmental stimuli and result in shape changes via passive energy. Her research interests are: biomimetics / biomimicry, biological systems, prototyping, 3D and 4D printing, reactive sensors, machine learning, augmented reality, interactive and generative design, multimedia art, lightweight structures and sustainable buildings.
